President, OVs offer incense at Imperial Citadel, pray for national peace, prosperity

A delegation of Overseas Vietnamese on Saturday visited President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum to pay tribute to the great leader, laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, and gathered at Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, where they joined President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in an incense-burning ceremony to pray for the nation’s peace and prosperity and welcome a peaceful and happy new year. 

These activities are part of the Homeland Spring Program 2022 organized annually by the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Many Overseas Vietnamese were emotional when participating in the event. They said “We think that our nation has experienced a very heroic development period. The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is the place to retain those heroic beauties.”

“These activities are very important, especially for Overseas Vietnamese and more importantly, for the young generations abroad who need to learn about their roots and the historical origins of their nation through which they can spread the word to their compatriots in other countries as well as to people all over the world.”

“We are honored to understand a lot more about the roots of the country, through which we can educate our children and grandchildren about national history.”

The delegation also participated in the carp release activity the President Phuc and his wife at Uncle Ho’s fish pond. The President encouraged Overseas Vietnamese to overcome difficulties and contribute to countries of their residence and the homeland.
