President receives Canadian, Belgian Ambassadors
Vietnam always treasures and wishes to strengthen its comprehensive partnership with Canada in an effective and practical manner, President Tran Dai Quang said at a reception in Hanoi on Thursday for outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Ping Kitnikone.
President Quang suggested that the two countries enhance collaboration in defense-security, science-technology, climate change response, sustainable development, and infrastructure development. He called for further cooperation at multilateral forums and institutions like the United Nations, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the International Organization of Francophone, and the Comprehensive Partnership and Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The same day, while receiving outgoing Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Jehanne Roccas, President Quang praised the Ambassador's contributions to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium. He called on Belgium to push the EU to promptly sign the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in Brussels in October. He said both sides need to agree on a new framework for further cooperation in agriculture to ensure food security and adapt to climate change. The President wished Belgium to successfully host the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 12) summit in October.
