President Tran Dai Quang receives former US Secretary of State John Kerry

President Tran Dai Quang has hailed former US Secretary of State John Kerry's ongoing visit to Vietnam in promoting bilateral relations.

He told Mr. Kerry in Hanoi on Wednesday that the Vietnamese people considered him a close friend and called for more support in trade, investment, education, technology and climate change cooperation. The President said he was pleased that US President Donald Trump has confirmed his participation in the APEC Summit in Da Nang. The President recognized the new US administration's commitment in resolving war consequences in Vietnam. He asked Mr Kerry to support Vietnam's interests in detoxification of Bien Hoa airfield, land mine clearance, the search of Vietnamese soldiers missing in action and energy development. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh received former Secretary Kerry the same day.
