(VOVWORLD) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Thursday called for promoting national unity and engagement of the political system and the public in the fight against COVID-19.

Closing the online conference with 27 southern cities and provinces, the Prime Minister said that the pandemic is getting complicated in HCM City and southeastern, Mekong Delta, and central coastal provinces. Emphasizing that the situation will get worse in the coming days without strong measures, the Prime Minister asked for stronger and more resolute and effective measures to curb the spread of the virus. He underlined the importance of bringing into play the strength of national unity.

Prime Minister Chinh said, ‘We need to be consistent with the spirit of fighting the pandemic as fighting an enemy and move from defending to attacking. Disease prevention should be a fundamental, strategic, long-term and decisive strategy. We need to bring into play the strength of national unity. The whole political system, businesses, and the public need to work together to fight the pandemic. It’s important to maximize our self-reliance, creativity, and proactiveness. Each commune, ward, factory, agency, and unit should be a fortress against the pandemic and each citizen should a soldier on the front against the pandemic.”

The Prime Minister asked agencies at all levels and localities to make stronger efforts and be more determined  to contain the pandemic as soon as possible.
