Prime Minister urges Thanh Hoa to promote rapid, sustainable development

Thanh Hoa must continue to improve its capacity and competitiveness to develop rapidly and sustainably, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at a ceremony to mark the 990th anniversary of Thanh Hoa province in Lam Son Square, Thanh Hoa city, on Wednesday.

He praised the province's traditional values and its important role in national defense and construction. He acknowledged Thanh Hoa's recent outstanding and comprehensive achievements to become a socio-economic hub in Vietnam's north-central region. Prime Minister Phuc said: To boost development and attract more investment, Thanh Hoa province needs to focus on 5 growth pillars: processing and manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, and urbanization and infrastructure, particularly in the Nghi Son Key Economic Zone. Thanh Hoa should continue to accelerate the progress of major infrastructure projects which greatly affect provincial economic development, including coastal roads, highways, tourism facilities, airways, and seaports. It also needs to promote research and new policies to attract more investment in important infrastructure projects.

The ceremony was followed by an art performance featuring 500 artists celebrating Thanh Hoa's history and people.
