Putin says military operation goals unchanged but tactics may be different

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the goal of Russia’s “special military operation” in Ukraine is still to liberate Donbas, defend the people living there, and “create conditions that will guarantee the security of Russia itself”. However, the tactics used to achieve that goal may be different. President Putin said NATO is looking for reasons and opportunities to give impetus to the alliance as a military organization.

He said Russia is not worried about Sweden and Finland joining NATO, but will “respond in kind” if NATO infrastructure and troops are deployed in Sweden and Finland.
