Remittances sent to Vietnam estimated at 12.5 billion USD in 2021

-The remittances sent home by overseas Vietnamese in 2021 stood at 12.5 billion USD, up 10% compared to 2020, according to the State Bank’s latest data.

Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than 6.5 billion USD worth of remittances in 2021.

It is estimated that annually the amount of remittances channeled into production and businesses accounts for nearly 30% of the total and about 25% of total remittances are poured into the real estate.

Experts say remittances have contributed to an increase in the domestic foreign currency source. This means that the supply and demand for foreign currencies in the market will be relatively balanced and help the USD/VND exchange rate maintain stability.
