Russia, China and Iran conclude naval exercise

Russia, China and Iran have completed three-way naval exercises in the Arabian Sea that included artillery fire at targets on the sea and in the air, the Russian defense ministry said on Saturday.

The exercise called “Maritime security belt – 2023" took place off the Iranian port of Chabahar. The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the Chinese destroyer Nanjing were involved in the drills that took place day and night on Thursday and Friday, the defense ministry said.

The three countries held similar drills last year and in 2019. The drills are described as a demonstration of growing military capabilities and deepening political bonds between the three countries.
