Russia poised to expel 30 US diplomats

Russia's Izvestia daily said Moscow is considering expelling 30 US diplomats and seizing two US diplomatic compounds in Moscow and St. Petersburg to retaliate for the seizure of diplomatic compounds in the United States and the expulsion of Russian diplomats.

Last December, the US seized two Russian diplomatic compounds and then-President Barack Obama ordered the expulsion of 35 Russians over what he said was their involvement in computer hacking to interfere in the US presidential election.

Izvestia on Tuesday said the Russian government is frustrated because President Donald Trump failed to propose any resolution of the diplomatic row at his meeting with President Vladimir Putin on the sideline of the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, last week.
