Shrimp exports set new record

VGP – The shrimp exports in 2014 are estimated to reach around US$4.1 billion, up 25% compared to the previous year.

The US is the largest importer of Viet Nam.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Viet Nam earned US$750 million from exporting aquatic products in December, a year-on-year increase of 13%.

The aquatic exports in 2014 are expected to attain around US$7.9 billion, up 18%.

The export of tra fish slightly deceased in November, achieving US$70.1 million, down 5.3%. However, the tra fish export to the EU, ASEAN and Brazil witnessed increases of 31.4%, 11.1% and 14.2%, respectively.

The nation also earned US$416.3 million and US$882.1 million from selling cuttlefish and octopus abroad, up 8.9% and 19.7%, respectively.

Currently, Viet Nam ranks first in aquaculture and fourth in aquatic exports in the world. The nation’s aquatic products have been exported to 165 nations and territories around the world.
