Singapore, a potential importer of Vietnam rice

A Vietnamese delegation visited Singapore in early August to seek ways to export rice there.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and eight leading rice exporting companies. The Vietnamese delegation met representatives of local biggest retail chains to set up relations and learn about ways to directly export Vietnamese goods to these supermarkets, instead of via foreign traders.

The Singaporean side spoke highly of the quality of Vietnamese agricultural products, noting that a large number of Vietnamese goods such as rice, aquatic products, fruits and vegetables are being sold at their supermarkets. Singaporean officials and business leaders said they are willing to cooperate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam's trade office in Singapore to organize Vietnamese goods fairs or weeks at their supermarket chains.
