South Korea: Democratic Party begins polling to elect presidential candidate

South Korean Democratic Party (DP) on Wednesday began a 10-day vote to elect its candidate for the upcoming presidential election, scheduled in May.

It was estimated that around 2.14 million people participated in the DP's primary vote, directly at 250 stations nationwide or by phone. Additional polls held among party members will also be held in five different areas including Seoul from next Saturday. The final candidate will be elected based on these poll outcomes.
