South Korea proposes military talks with North Korea

South Korea has proposed military talks with North Korea to halt all hostile activities near their joint border, a South Korean official said.

The proposal came after North Korea rejected a peace initiative by South Korean President Moon Jae-in. If the talks were to go ahead, they could be the first high level talks between the two Koreas since 2015. President Moon has long signaled he wants closer engagement with the North.
