State management of religions reviewed

The State management of religion has helped ensure political security and served Vietnam's economic development, according to a review organized by the Ministry of Interior and the Government Committee for Religious Affairs in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The meeting was told that next year the State will continue to create favorable conditions for socio-economic development in areas inhabited by religious followers, train religious dignitaries, advocate religion-related external policy, and disseminate information on the religious and human rights situation in Vietnam. Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh called for more efforts to implement the Party guidelines and State policies, and publicize and enforce the Law on Religions and Beliefs. Binh said "Solidarity is very important and the religions' positive sides should be acknowledged without prejudice. Wherever mass organizations do a good job in encouraging religious activities in accordance with laws, there is stability.
