State President Releases Carps at Presidential Palace Relic Site

Hanoi: State President Luong Cuong and his spouse participated in a traditional ritual on January 19, where they joined overseas Vietnamese in releasing carps at Uncle Ho's fish pond located in the Presidential Palace Relic Site. This event was part of the observance of 'Ong Cong, Ong Tao' (Land Genie and Kitchen Gods) day.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the ritual holds significant cultural importance, symbolizing the Vietnamese people's respect and gratitude towards the Land Genie and Kitchen Gods. The act of releasing carps is a traditional practice believed to allow the Kitchen Gods to ride the carps to heaven, where they report on the household's affairs to the Jade Emperor. This annual tradition is widely celebrated across Vietnam, reflecting the deep-rooted customs and cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people.
