Suicide blast in Pakistan, 13 killed

A suicide bomb attack Tuesday at an election rally in the northwestern city of Peshawar, Pakistan, killed at least 13 people, including a prominent local politician.

The attack at a campaign event organised by the Awami National Party (ANP) also wounded 54, according to the local police chief. The suicide attack targeted Haroon Bilour, a provincial assembly candidate for the July 25 general elections.

The bombing came hours after a Pakistan military spokesman warned of security threats ahead of the national elections.
