Sultan of Brunei begins State visit to Vietnam

Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei began a 3-day State-level visit to Vietnam on Tuesday at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

A welcoming ceremony was held in Hanoi's Presidential Palace on Wednesday morning. Earlier, the Sultan laid a wreath at the monument of heroic martyrs and paid a floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.

Vietnam and Brunei established diplomatic ties in 1992 and their relationship has blossomed. In particular, political trust has been consolidated through high level delegation exchanges and meetings. This is the Brunei Sultan's second official visit to Vietnam after more than 2 decades to enhance friendship and cooperation towards the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2022.
