Suriya Dismisses Rumors of Coalition Party Discontent Over Railway Concession.

Bangkok: "Suriya" announced that he would not participate in the coalition party discussion planned for this afternoon, amidst swirling rumors regarding amendments to MOU 44 and constitutional changes. He clarified that the railway concession connecting three airports would not be presented in the cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow, and rejected claims of dissatisfaction among coalition parties. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, who serves as both Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, as well as a leader of the Pheu Thai Party, confirmed that he would not attend today's meeting involving coalition party leaders. This meeting was rumored to focus on MOU 44 and issues related to overlapping interests in Koh Kood, Trat Province. Mr. Suriya addressed the potential amendment of the high-speed rail contract linking Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, and U-Tapao airports, stating that it will not be proposed in this week's cabinet session. He emphasized the necessity to examine th e details more thoroughly before any submission can occur. In response to reports of coalition party dissatisfaction, Mr. Suriya assured that the matter had been referred to the oversight committee, specifically the State Enterprise Policy Committee Office (SEPO), under the supervision of Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. While he noted that further details might emerge today, he firmly dismissed any issues with the coalition parties. Addressing potential conflicts with the PPP concession principle and concerns about governmental disadvantages, Mr. Suriya acknowledged that these aspects require careful consideration.
