The Swiss newspaper Agefi recently published a story titled “Vietnam and the new Asian tigers” by Guy Mettan, that says Vietnam is an emerging economy that plays  an important role in Asia. 

The article said the world is seeing the emergence of Vietnam and Indonesia as rising economic powers in Asia, along with South Korea and Singapore. Vietnam and Indonesia are experiencing an economic boom and are asserting themselves politically,  not just within ASEAN but globally as well, it noted.

Mettan cited the World Bank’s August projections that Vietnam’s GDP growth may hit 7.5% in 2022, and its inflation held to 3.8%.

The story applauded Vietnam’s candidacy for the UN Human Rights Council after successfully serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2020 to 2021.
