Syrian army prepares for Idlib operation

The Syrian army plans to deploy more heavy arms to the demilitarized zone in northern and northwestern Syria to pave the way for a large-scale operation against any rebels who insist on remaining in the region.

The Fars news agency on Tuesday said the Syrian army has detected opposition positions in Idlib province, where heavy weapons are deployed. The army detected tanks, cannons, missiles, and rockets launchers in the demilitarized zone mentioned in the Sochi Agreement, which was signed by Russia and Turkey last month.

A commander said the rebels are still reinforcing their positions, are dispatching more military hardware to the demilitarized zone, and continue to target the Syrian army, but government forces are now ready to counter them.
