Tet cakes offered to Hung Kings in Ho Chi Minh City

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on Friday to offer “banh tet” (round glutinous rice cakes) and specialty fruits to the Hung Kings, Vietnam’s legendary founders, at Thuong (Upper) Temple at the National Historical and Cultural Park in Thu Duc city.

18 pairs of cakes were made by artisans using the finest ingredients.

The “banh tet” offering ceremony is held annually in Ho Chi Minh City to pay tribute to the Hung Kings and predecessors for founding and defending Vietnam. This manifests Vietnam’s age-old cultural tradition of “drinking water, remembering the source” and inspires patriotism among local residents.
