Textile exports recover spectacularly to earn 39 billion USD in 2021

Vietnam’s garment and textile exports weathered the COVID-19 storm to earn 39 billion USD in 2021, up 11.2% from 2020 and 0.3% from 2019, according to a review conference of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) in Hanoi on Friday.

This was an extraordinary effort of Vietnam’s garment and textile sector when global economic recovery is slowing down, according to participants.

Garment and textile companies are working on their internal supply chain linkage solutions for input material, capitalizing on the rules of origin stated in new-generation free trade agreements.

VITAS President Vu Duc Giang told the conference, “Garment and textile companies have devised their visions and investment strategies that meet their customers’ evaluation criteria. Solutions to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s garment and textile are given due attention. The sector has surmounted all the difficulties and won orders.”
