Top legislator welcomes UNESCO Director-Generals

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted a reception for Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Irina Bokova, who was on an official visit to Viet Nam, on August 25 in Ha Noi.

The host leader was delighted at the developments in the relations between Viet Nam and UNESCO.

According to Ms. Ngan, a large number of UNESCO's projects on education, culture, science, information have been brought into full play in Viet Nam in terms of policy and practicality. UNESCO's support in knowledge, technique, management, and finance made great contributions to harmonious and sustainable growth in Viet Nam.

So far, Viet Nam has actively engaged in UNESCO's activities, said the top legislator.

The Chairwoman treasured the contributions of Ms. Irina Bokova to the fine relations between Viet Nam and UNESCO.

As a reliable and responsible member, Viet Nam would continue to take part in and make further contributions to UNESCO, affirmed the host leader.

In return, Ms. Irina Bokova revealed that during her official tour, she held talks with Vietnamese Deputy FM Le Hoai Trung to cement and deepen the cooperation between the two sides and discuss ways to implement the MoU on cooperation in the 2016-2020 period./.
