Tourist Bookings Surge in ‘Half-Half North’ Campaign, Exceeding Expectations.

BANGKOK: The "Half-Half North" campaign has successfully run for three days, witnessing a surge in tourist bookings that have surpassed the initial targets. The government is now considering launching a continuous stimulus campaign to maintain this momentum. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman of the Prime Minister's Office, confirmed that the northern region is fully prepared to welcome tourists, including areas like Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, which have undergone restoration. Tourist attractions are now completely operational, and the arrival of cold winds has invigorated the atmosphere, particularly at Kiew Mae Pan and Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai, where morning temperatures range from 12-14 degrees Celsius, accompanied by fog. According to Thai News Agency, November marks a crucial tourist season in the North, attracting both domestic and international visitors due to its cold climate and scenic beauty. The government initiated the 'Half-Half North' campaign to boost spending across 17 northern provinces. Curre ntly, almost 1,000 users are engaging with the campaign daily, utilizing the 10,000 available privileges. If the positive response continues, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) may extend the project into a second phase to ensure a steady flow of tourists, aiming to surpass the target of 22 million people/trips for the year.
