Trade tensions between US and China, US and EU
US President Donald Trump accused China on Wednesday of targeting American farmers in a vicious way and using them as leverage to get concessions.
Trump tweeted the US has been nice until now and the Chinese effort will fail. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson responded that there is no winner in a trade war, and called on the US to withdraw from the wrong path and listen to the international community's legitimate demands.
The US and the EU have agreed to ease trade tensions it was announced on Wednesday after a meeting at the White House between US President Donald Trump and European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker. Trump said they agreed to launch a new phase in the relationship and to work together toward zero tariffs, zero nontariff barriers, and zero subsidies on non-auto industrial goods. In addition, the EU has made a commitment to buy US soybeans. The two said they will work to lift the tariffs on steel and aluminum imposed by Washington which have been responded with retaliatory measures by the EU.
