Traditional Tet customs reenacted

Vietnam's traditional rituals were reenacted on Saturday at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, raising the curtain for activities to welcome the upcoming Tet or Lunar New Year.

Visitors were treated to a Kitchen Gods farewell ritual, a carp releasing ceremony, and the erection of the Neu tree which is believed to ward off evil spirits. The citadel is one of Vietnam's 10 special national heritage sites and was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2010.
