Tropical storm ‘Kalmaegi’ to make land fall in East Sea

VGP – Within the next 24 hours, meteorologists project tropical storm ‘Kalmaegi’ to continue on a track through the East Sea, in a northwestwardly direction at a speed of 20km per hour and make landfall over Eastern Isabella.

According to scientists at the Central Meteorology Hydrology Forecast Centre, due to the impact of the storm circulation, there were strong winds and tough seas in the area of the East Sea during the night of September 14. The storm sustained maximum wind speeds of  11-12 category, even to 13-14 near the eye of storm.

In the mainland, sporadic heavy showers and thunderstorms occurred in the northwestern and northeastern areas including the capital city of Hanoi.

Weather forecasters predict there a high possibility of heavy downpours and thunderstorms in the central highlands and throughout the southern region due to southwestern moonson with temperatures ranging from 26 to 29 degree Celsius 

The threat of flash floods and landslides are likely in hazard-prone areas especially along river banks and mountain slopes of the affected areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions./. – VOV
