Troubled people saved at sea

PANO � Troops of the Hai Phong city's Border Guard and sailors of fishing vessel HP 90542 TS saved seven troubled crewmembers of a cargo ship at 9:15am on February 17.

Earlier in the day, at 6:00am, ship HP 3923 with seven men on board collided with ship Sao Do 19 about six nautical miles from the North-Northeastern part of Dau Island of Do Son town, Hai Phong city.

Consequently, the cargo ship's bow was torn and the water poured in its compartments. The captain immediately sent a mayday signal.

On receiving the mayday, the city's Border Guard Command sent a canoe with three troops and mobilized fishing vessel HP 90542 TS to successfully rescue these distressed people.

* At 2:30 pm on February 16, a fisherman of trawler BV 93727 TS felt into the sea and went missing about 20 nautical miles from the East-Southeastern point of Mui Ne of Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province. The vessel's captain called for help.

The Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue asked the Ba Ria � Vung Tau provincial Steering Board for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the Border Guard Command, and relevant agencies to call on ships operating nearby to search and rescue the victim.
