Trump’s State of the Union address receives opposite responses

US President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, delivered Tuesday, has received opposite responses.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said President Trump has strengthened America at home and abroad in his first two years by putting the interests of the American people first and reasserting American leadership around the world. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said President Trump's pro-growth, pro-worker policies are delivering rising wages and historically low unemployment for the benefit of all Americans.

In the Democratic response to President Trump's State of the Union speech, Stacey Abrams criticized Trump's tax policies in 2017 as well as his controversial immigration plans. She said Trump's administration chose to separate children from their families though Democratic and the Republican parties should have issued better policies for immigrants. She also criticized racism, adding all racists need to be accountable for their words and deeds regardless of his social status. Abrams urged her country's leaders to protect the progress they made and commit to expanding healthcare and lowering costs for everyone, tackle gun safety measures, and take action on climate change.
