UK faces health workers’ strike

100,000 staff of the Royal College of Nursing are expected to strike on Tuesday across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland in a protest over a below-inflation pay raise. It’s the biggest strike in the 74-year history of the National Health Service.

Thousands of ambulance workers will strike across England and Wales on December 21 and 28 in a dispute over pay which will affect emergency operations.

British health sector leaders called on the government to raise salaries for healthcare workers amid soaring inflation.

Nearly 10,000 staff were absent last Thursday and 16,000 appointments and surgeries had to be rescheduled, according to the NHS.
