Ukraine president announces re-election bid for March vote
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Tuesday said he will run for another term of office in March's Presidential Election.
Addressing supporters in the capital of Kiev, Poroshenko said he hoped that Ukraine will push on with efforts to join both the European Union and NATO if he were to win another five-year term. He emphasized the need to build a peace relationship with Russia.
The 2019 presidential campaign in Ukraine was officially launched on Dec 31 last year. Candidates should declare their intention to run for the presidency 3 months ahead the election day on March 31.
