UN General Assembly adopts resolution on pandemic response co-initiated by Vietnam

The United Nations General Assembly on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution on organizing a high-level meeting on pandemic preparedness and response. The resolution was co-authored by Vietnam, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Costa Rica, Ghana, Jamaica, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Africa, Sweden, and Indonesia and co-sponsored by 129 countries.

This is the second resolution proposed by Vietnam and approved by the UN General Assembly. In 2020, the General Assembly approved a resolution drafted by Vietnam to declare December 27 as the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness.
