UN General Assembly resolution calls for end of US embargo on Cuba

The UN General Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution calling for an end to the decades-old US embargo on Cuba. This is the 30th resolution to call for an end to the Cuba embargo.

60 years of economic, commercial, and financial blockade has cost Cuba 150 billion dollars, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez told the General Assembly.

He called the US embargo an act of economic war whose aim is preventing Cuba from accessing financial resources and reducing the ability of the Cuban government to meet the needs of its people.
