UNESCO hails Vietnam’s return to its Executive Board

Vietnam has been elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the 2021-2025 term.

Its 92% of the possible votes was the 6th most of the 27 countries elected. The result was announced at the 41st General Assembly that concluded on Wednesday.

In an interview with Vietnamese reporters following the event, President of the 41st session of UNESCO’s General Conference Santiago Irazabal Mourão said this is the fifth time Vietnam has been elected to UNESCO’s Executive Board. Vietnam’s rich culture and history and its diverse social perspectives will add more color to UNESCO’s activities, he said.

UNESCO attaches great importance to cultural diversity and creative ideas. Vietnam’s point of view will enrich debates at UNESCO forums.
