US air strike kills an al Qaeda leader in Syria

A US air strike has killed an al Qaeda leader in Syria. The Pentagon said Mohammad Habib Boussadoun al-Tunisi, a Tunisian who was involved in "external operations and has been connected to terrorist plots to attack Western targets," was killed near Idlib in Syria on Tuesday.

The man arrived in Syria in 2014 after spending several years in Europe.

In another development, more than 80 militants have been killed by US airstrikes on stations controlled by the IS in Libya.
