-US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman will discuss North Korea’s recent missile launches and other regional security issues with her Korean and Japanese counterparts in Tokyo next week, a State Department official said Thursday. The official said their 3-day meeting will take place from next Monday.

North Korea conducted 8 missile launches in the past 3 weeks and fired hundreds of shells off its east and west coasts.

The launches coincided with joint exercises conducted by the US, South Korea, and Japan, in which the US deployed its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier the USS Ronald Reagan.
