US diplomat to visit Ukraine, Russia

Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried will travel to Ukraine and Russia to discuss the Ukrainian situation.

The US State Department said in a press release on Saturday that Donfried will emphasize that they can make diplomatic progress on ending the conflict in the Donbas through implementation of the Minsk agreements in support of the Normandy format.

On the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministerial Meeting in the UK, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that the G7 agreed that in order to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, parties need to return to the negotiating table, referring to the Normandy format — involving Russia, Ukraine, France, and Germany. She said that they need to take every action to return to dialogue.
