US funds renovation of Ho Dynasty Citadel gate

The US has provided more than 92,000 USD for a project to repair the dome and southern gate of the Ho Dynasty Citadel in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

The southern gate was built of large rectangular and crescent stones. It is one of the most attractive destinations of the Ho Dynasty Citadel but has been heavily damaged after 600 years. The Ho Dynasty Citadel was Vietnam's capital in the 14th century. It is the only in the country built entirely of stone that has remained nearly intact throughout the nation's history. The structure was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 2011.
