US imposes new tariff on China’s goods worth USD50 billion

The United States and China are set to implement punitive 25 percent tariffs on 16 billion USD worth of the other's goods.

This latest round of tit-for-tat brings the total value of imports subjected to tariffs on either side, to 50 billion USD since early July, and more are in the pipeline.

Washington will hold hearings this week on the proposed list of an additional 200 billion USD worth of Chinese imports to be subject to duties.

China has said its own list of tariffs valued at 16 billion USD worth of imports from the United States, would come into effect after Washington announced its decision.
