US marks 18 years since September 11 terrorist attacks

It has been 18 years since terrorists commandeered airplanes and brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing 3,000 and injuring 6,000 people.

A commemoration of the victims took place on Wednesday at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, located at the site of the former World Trade Center complex.

In Washington, DC, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania observed a moment of silence in the White House to remember the victims. Mr. Trump later attended a commemoration at the Pentagon, another target of the 9/11 attacks. He said: We do not seek conflict, but if anyone dares to strike our land, we will respond with the full measure of American power and the iron will of the American spirit, and that spirit is unbreakable. And if for any reason, they come back to our country, we will go wherever they are, and use power, the likes of which the United States has never used before. And I'm not even talking about nuclear power. They will never have seen anything like what will happen to them.
