US plans to test THAAD early July

The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) confirmed that it aimed to carry out a The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) test "in early July", some days after North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

An MDA spokesman said the test will be conducted at the Pacific Spaceport Complex Alaska, adding that THAAD would "detect, track and engage a target with a THAAD interceptor.

THAAD system was initially deployed in March in Seongju county, South Korea, with two of its maximum load of six launchers to counter a growing North Korean missile threat. The South Korean government currently delays the system's deployment to evaluate its effect to the environment.
