US, South Korea coordinate on North Korea issue
South Korean Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday as part of his 5-day visit to the US to coordinate on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
They affirmed their commitment to close coordination so that inter-Korean cooperation and progress on US-North Korea negotiations toward denuclearization remain aligned, according to a statement issued by US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert.
The same day, the US and the UK discussed ways to prevent avoiding sanctions against North Korea regarding Pyongyang's nuclear weapon programs and missiles. They asked insurance providers and businesses to immediately stop any supportive relationship or supply of refined oil to North Korea.
