US vetoes UN resolution denouncing violence against Palestinians
The US vetoed on Friday a Kuwait-drafted UN Security Council resolution that condemned Israel's use of force against Palestinian civilians, calling for the protection of Palestinians in Gaza.
The meeting was chaired by Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia. Ten of the council's 15 members including China, France, and Russia voted for the resolution. The UK is among four countries abstaining. However, the resolution was not adopted because the US voted against it.
