USAID provides 10 million USD to help Vietnam respond to COVID-19

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Wednesday said it has provided 4.7 million USD to help Vietnam prepare a COVID-19 testing system, technical experts’ preparedness in infection prevention at health facilities, medical screening at border gates and others. In addition, USAID provided 5 million USD to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the Vietnamese economy.

The US has recently provided more than 17 million USD to Vietnam’s COVID-19 response, including 100 US-made ventilators via the USAID.

The US has also contributed 2 billion USD to the COVAX mechanism to purchase and distribute COVID-19 vaccines to 92 low- and middle-income countries. Vietnam has received nearly 2.5 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from COVAX.
