US’s 243rd Independence Day marked in Hanoi

US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on Tuesday to mark the 243rd Independence Day of his country on July 4.

Addressing the event, Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh said Vietnam considers the US an important partner and wants to develop the relationship even more.

The Minister noted that the outcomes of bilateral cooperation in recent years have created a foundation for the future.

He said when Vietnam assems the ASEAN Chairmanship next year and a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure, the two nations will have new opportunities to work together to promote world peace, stability, cooperation and development.

Vietnam and the US will mark the 25th anniversary of their bilateral diplomatic ties in 2020.
