Viet Nam Day in Spain 2017 launched

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on May 23 chaired a ceremony to launch Viet Nam Day in Spain in 2017 and Viet Nam Cultural Space in Madrid, the capital of Spain, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Minh highlighted achievements gained by the two nations over the recent 40 years, including high-ranking delegation exchanges. Especially, Spain was the first nation in the EU that set up Strategic Partnership with Viet Nam.

The Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and Spain have been strengthened in all fields of politics, defense, economics, culture and education.

Viet Nam was the largest trade partner of Spain among ASEAN nations and has become an attractive destination for Spanish visitors with 58,000 ones in 2016, an increase of 29% against the previous year.

The Deputy PM expected that the event will create an opportunity for Spanish people to know more about Viet Nam's people and culture.

A number of activities such as art performances and investment and trade promotion forums will be held in Spain this year.

The third Viet Nam Day in Spain 2017 helps advertise the image and potentials of Viet Nam and its people, enhancing the Strategic Partnership heading to the future between the two nations.

The event provides opportunities for the two sides to get access to and accelerate investment, technology transfer and economic development in advantageous areas, including infrastructure, high-tech agriculture, Merge and Acquisition, tourism and energy.
