The pledge was made by a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Cuong to the seventh TICAD in the Japanese prefecture of Yokohama last week. The event attracted representatives from 50 African countries, including 29 heads of State and government leaders.

Themed Advancing development in Africa through people, technology and innovation, the conference focused its discussions on promoting economic transformation and improving business environment via innovation and participation of the private sector, building a sustainable, resilient society, and strengthening security and stability.

On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Cuong met with Foreign Minister of Cameroon Lejeune Mbella, Director of the OECD Development Centre Mario Pezzini, and Japanese authorities to discuss ways to deepen future bilateral ties.
