Vietnam, an active member in environmental protection

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue on Friday received Naoko Ishii, Chairwoman of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), on her working visit to Vietnam.

Hue said Vietnam is doing its utmost to be an active and responsible member of international organizations, particularly on environmental protection and climate change. He said he hopes the GEF will continue to support Vietnam in integrating its socio-economic development strategies with UN sustainable development agenda.

Ishii said she is willing to support the Vietnamese government in environmental protection, adding that Vietnam was a pioneer in implementing the sustainable urban model, which will be replicated to other countries.
