Vietnam as UNSC non-permanent member prioritizes multilateralism

As reported earlier, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, Vietnam was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the next 2 years.

On this occasion, The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) interviews Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. Mr. Minh highlighted Vietnam's priorities during its term, saying:Vietnam will work to strengthen the role of multilateralism. Vietnam wants to boost multilateralism and respect for international law to settle global issues. Vietnam also wants to contribute to issues like post-conflict settlement, women and children in conflicts, and landmine cleanup after conflicts. Vietnam considers these issues very important.

Deputy Prime Minister Minh said the UN Security Council has a crucial role in global issues, particularly peace and security. Joining the Council, Vietnam aims to build an environment of peace in the region and the wider world, thus ensuring national development.
