Vietnam asks parties not to further complicate the situation in the East Sea

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang has reacted to the deployment of Chinese aircraft KJ-500 and KQ-200 in the Fiery Cross Reef as shown via ISI satellite image as well as the operation of Chinese armed civilian vessels and fishing boats in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.

She was speaking in an online press briefing on Thursday: “I reconfirm Vietnam’s sufficient historic evidence and legal grounds consolidating Vietnam’s sovereignty in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in line with international law. All activities by parties in the two archipelagos without Vietnam’s permission are null and void. Given the current regional and international context, Vietnam asks parties not to further complicate the situation in the East Sea.”
